Surah al-Shams

It was an exciting journey to teach the girls how to read the Qur'an using al-Qai'dah al-Nooraneeyah.  And now we are in the beginning stages of our journey through the Qur'an, insha'Allah.

We are currently learning Surah al-Shams by learning "one line" from the Madinah mushaaf per day, which equates to the following schedule, insha'Allah:

X Day 01 > ayat 1 - 3
X Day 02 > ayat 4 - 6
X Day 03 > ayat 7 - 8
_ Day 04 > ayat 9 - 11
_ Day 05 > ayat 12 - 13
_ Day 06 > ayat 14 - 15

I also find it interesting that although Surah al-Shams has 15 ayat, it only has 54 words; while Surah al-Bayyinah has 8 ayat with 94 words.  This is useful when explaining to the girls when they believe that a higher ayat count is a lot; when really, it comes down to the number of words in a surah that one is memorizing.
